Vehicles in German Town Found Smeared with Nazi Symbols in Blood, Law Enforcement Confirm

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Law Enforcement
Officers reported they were contacted by a man who found a automobile in Hanau marked with reddish fluid

Approximately fifty cars have been covered with what seems to be human blood in the Germany's city of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.

Cars, exterior walls and postal boxes were marked, occasionally with swastikas, they reported in a release.

Police report they were notified in the late hours on Wednesday night, when a resident observed that a car in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been marked with a reddish-hued substance.

The liquid had been drawn in the pattern of a swastika, they stated.

Police then discovered many other vandalized cars and residential walls in the nearby vicinity.

Nazi symbols are illegal in Germany under laws prohibiting the visible presentation of Nazi-era symbols.

Officials say initial examinations indicate the liquid was most likely human bodily fluid.

"Currently there is no clue as to its origin; investigators are presently not cognizant of any harm in connection with the incident," they added.

City officials stated they were trying "to unravel the mystery" and have requested to the public for details.

A high-ranking official stated the incident rendered him speechless and needed to be resolved quickly.

"This incident strikes at the core of Hanau and reawakens the wounds of the extremist violent incident five years ago," he wrote on social media, mentioning the murder of nine victims by a assailant focusing on individuals of immigrant origin in 2020.
